A male Daurian Redstart is cool after all!
昨日もジョウビタキの雄君がすぐ近くに来てくれ、おかげでたくさん撮らせてもらいました。昨日の記事で彼を主役にしたかったのですが、梅とメジロのフォト花鳥画を今季初めて撮れましたのでそちらを優先しました。
今日は、文句なくジョウビタキ君が主役です。
Yesterday, the male Daurian Redstart came very close to me again and I was able to take many photos thanks to him. I wanted to feature him as the main subject in yesterday’s article, but I chose the photos of the plum blossom and Japanese White-eye as my first priority, which I was able to take for the first time this season.
Today, without a doubt, the main character is once again the Daurian Redstart.

コゲラ｜Japanese Pygmy Woodpecker
コゲラの雄は、後頭部の左右に小さな赤い羽根があります。しかし、普段は羽毛に隠れていて見えないのですが、風が強いなど何かの理由で羽毛が乱れた時にチラリと見えることがあります。私は一年に２～３回、経験するでしょうか。
珍しく、今日は撮影している間中ずっと赤い色が見えていました。
滅多に見ることができないことから、この羽根を「幸せを呼ぶ赤い羽根」と呼ぶ人もいるほどです。
The male woodpecker of this species has small red feathers on both sides of its occiput. However, these feathers are usually hidden by its other feathers and cannot be seen. Occasionally, due to strong winds or other reasons that cause the feathers to become disheveled, you can catch a glimpse of these feathers. I would say I experience this about two to three times a year.
Unusually, today the red feathers were visible the entire time I was taking pictures.
As these feathers are rarely seen, some people refer to them as “lucky red feathers” that bring happiness.

ルリビタキ君を撮影できましたが、ご覧の通り、遠いです。距離がありすぎると、ピントが甘くなり解像感が低下します。
とても美しい個体なので、もっと近くで綺麗に撮影してやりたいのですが…。
I was able to take a picture of a male Red-flanked Bluetail, but as you can see, it’s far away. When the distance is too great, the focus becomes blurred and the resolution decreases.
Since it’s such a beautiful specimen, I would love to take a clearer picture of it up close…
あとがき｜Wrap-UP
今日は「主役候補」は、心情的には、３種いました。ジョウビタキ君とコゲラ君とルリビタキ君です。
赤い羽根の見えるコゲラ君も捨てがたい、綺麗な個体のルリビタキ君も捨てがたい。
しかし、手が届くほど近くで撮影させてくれたジョウビタキ君はこれ以上ないくらいに精緻に解像しています。
さらに、枝被りもなく、余計な影もなく、美しい仕上がりです。
ジョウビタキ君を選ばないわけにはいきませんね。
Today, emotionally speaking, there were three “candidates for the lead role.” They were Mr. Daurian Redstart, Mr. Japanese Pygmy Woodpecker, and Mr. Red-flanked Bluetail.
Mr. Pygmy Woodpecker with visible red feathers was also attractive, as well as the beautiful specimen of Mr. Red-flanked Bluetail.
However, Mr. Daurian Redstart, who allowed me to take pictures up close, is impeccably detailed and sharp, to the point that it couldn’t get any better.
Furthermore, there is no branch obstruction or unnecessary shadow, resulting in a beautiful finish.
I had no choice but to choose Mr. Daurian Redstart.
