成鳥の姿は図鑑などでも簡単に知ることができますが、成鳥になる前の姿を間近で確認できるのはバードウォッチングの醍醐味の一つと言えるでしょう。
今日はオスのキビタキの今まで見たことがない成長段階を目の当たりにすることができました。このような若いオスには出会ったことがありません。
この出会いだけで今日の探鳥ウォーキングは満足のいくものでした。
While it is easy to learn about the appearance of adult birds from field guides and other resources, getting a close look at them in their pre-adult plumage is one of the joys of birdwatching.
Today, I was able to witness a growth stage of a male Narcissus Flycatcher that I had never seen before. I had never encountered such a young male before.
Just this encounter made today’s birding walk a truly satisfying experience.

上記のキビタキの若オスは成鳥のオスと縄張り争いをしていました。
シャッターチャンスは限られてしまいましたが、両者の争いを観察するだけでも楽しかったです。
今日も満足な探鳥ウォーキングでした。
