Is Nest Building Complete? Hoping for a Successful Breeding Season.
Unlike when breeding activity was observed last time (2019), the current kingfisher couple seems to have set up a nest hole in a place that is difficult to observe.
This is thought to be due to the fact that the environment around the area where successive kingfishers have been nesting has changed significantly due to the park’s redevelopment work.
From the results taken today, can we assume that the nest building is over because neither the male nor the female had soil on their beaks? (I’m not sure because there is too little information.)
Around 10:30 a.m., for about 30 minutes before and after, intense scenes of male and female birds calling to each other and flying were observed, but at other times it was very quiet.
There were also times when there was no sign of them at all, and I can’t imagine what the situation is.
It’s a shame that past observation experience hasn’t been very helpful.
Today’s kingfisher: A mini photo collection
It seems that the kingfishers have a few somewhat established favorite perches, and they mostly land in almost the same spot on each branch, so I end up taking a lot of photos that look similar to the ones I’ve taken before.
So today, I focused on taking pictures intensively when the sunlight filtered through the trees and hit the kingfishers, even in a partial degree.
